Adam Smith's Panmure House is a holding of Heriot-Watt University.
In 1821, Heriot-Watt was founded as the world's first Mechanics Institute. The University's roots in the practical innovation of the first industrial revolution make it a fitting steward for the home in which Smith finalised his celebrated observations on the benefits of the division of labour.
To assist in the University’s oversight of Panmure House, a formal advisory board exists to ensure that Panmure's programme of events remains relevant to the aims of the project.
The Chair of the Panmure House Advisory Board is MR GRAHAM Watson LLB, CA, FRSA.
Our past, your future
The Heriot-Watt University annual stakeholder meeting took place in June 2021. We invite you to catch up on the many achievements over the last year, as well as help us celebrate the University's 200th Anniversary. From across our five global campuses, Heriot-Watt heard amazing stories of collaboration, successes and their plans for the future, including the launch of the 1821 Appeal.
