    Terms and Conditions: Doors Open Day

    Panmure House Doors Open Day Hamper Competition Terms and Conditions

    1. THE PROMOTER

    The promoter is Heriot-Watt University, established by Royal Charter in the United Kingdom with registration number RC000216 and a charity registered in Scotland with charity number SC000278 whose principal office is at Riccarton, Edinburgh EH14 4AS, Scotland, United Kingdom (HWU).

    1. THE COMPETITION

    2.1 The title of the competition is “PANMURE HOUSE DOORS OPEN DAY HAMPER COMPETITION” (Competition).

    2.2 The Competition is free to enter but is only open to followers of Panmure House on one of its social media accounts (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook or Twitter).  Links to Panmure House’s social media accounts can be found here.     

    2.3 The Competition is only open to UK residents.  If you are under 18 years of age, you must have your parent or legal guardian’s permission to enter the Competition.  Please have them read these terms and conditions with you.  If you are a parent or legal guardian of a child who has entered the Competition then you are subject to these terms and conditions. 

    2.4 No person directly associated with the administration of the Competition will be entitled to enter the Competition.

    2.5 A maximum of one entry per participant will be included in the prize draw (except where there is also a bonus entry pursuant to clause 3.3 below).  

    2.6 HWU reserves all rights to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the Competition.

    1. HOW TO ENTER

    3.1 The Competition will run from 12noon (UK) on 24 September 2021 (Opening Date) to 12noon (UK) on Sunday 3 October 2021 (Closing Date) inclusive.

    3.2 All Competition entries received after the Closing Date are automatically disqualified.

    3.3 To enter the Competition submit the online entry form provided on the Doors Open Day page by the Closing Date.  One bonus entry may be made by you provided you complete the other quiz hidden on the Website.  Only those who correctly answer all the Competition questions on the online entry form will be eligible to be put forward to the prize draw.

    3.4 HWU will not accept responsibility for Competition entries that are lost or delayed as a result of any equipment failure; technical malfunction; or systems, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind.

    3.5 By submitting a Competition entry, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions.

    3.6 One winner will be chosen from all valid entries by random prize draw.

    1. THE PRIZE

    4.1 The prize for the Competition is one Scottish Fine Food Hamper (Prize).

    4.2 The Prize is subject to availability and there is no cash alternative for the Prize.  HWU reserves the right to substitute the Prize with a prize of equal or greater value.

    4.3 The Prize is not negotiable or transferable.

     

    1. WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT

    5.1 The winner of the Competition will be announced by email on Tuesday 5 October 2021 (Announcement Date).

    5.2 The decision of HWU is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.

    5.3 The Promoter will contact the winner personally as soon as practicable after the Announcement Date, using the email address provided with the Competition entry.

    5.4 HWU will send the name of the winner to anyone who writes requesting details of the winner after the Closing Date of the Competition and who encloses a self-addressed envelope to Panmure House.  By entering the Competition, you agree to HWU providing your name if you are a winner of the Prize.

    1. CLAIMING THE PRIZE

    6.1 Please allow either (a) 10 days for delivery of the Prize, or (b) where you have indicated you wish to pick up in person, 10 days from the Announcement Date to claim the Prize by personally attending Panmure House at 4 Lochend Close, Edinburgh, EH8 8BL on a date and time to be agreed by email in advance by HWU. If you do not claim the Prize by this date, your claim will become invalid.

    6.2 HWU will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winner. If the winner cannot be contacted or is not available, or has not claimed their prize within 11 of days of the Announcement Date, HWU reserves the right to offer the Prize to another eligible entrant chosen at random.

    6.3 HWU does not accept any responsibility if you are not able to take up the Prize.

    1. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

    Insofar as is permitted by law, HWU will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the Prize except where it is caused by the negligence of HWU or that of its employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.

    1. DATA PROTECTION AND PUBLICITY

    By entering the Competition, you agree that any personal information provided by you with the Competition entry may be held and used only by HWU to administer the Competition.  HWU will only process your personal information as set out in the privacy POLICY.

     

    1. GENERAL

    9.1 If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, HWU may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the Competition.

    9.2 HWU reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, extend or amend the Competition where it becomes necessary to do so or in wholly exceptional circumstances outside its control. 

    9.3 These terms and conditions shall be governed by Scots law, and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts (except that if you are a consumer and (a) you live in England you can bring a claim in the English or Scottish courts, or (b) you live in Northern Ireland you can bring a claim in the Northern Irish or Scottish courts).
